Frequently Asked Questions
27 answers across 6 categories about yacht charter with Bluebnc Yachting in Mallorca, Ibiza, and the Mediterranean.
Booking & Pricing
- How far in advance should I book a yacht charter?
- We recommend booking 3–6 months ahead for peak Mediterranean season (June–September). For major events such as the Monaco Grand Prix, Cannes Film Festival, or Palma Boat Show, 6–12 months is advisable. Off-season charters can often be arranged at shorter notice with greater availability and preferential rates.
- What is the booking process for a Bluebnc yacht charter?
- After selecting your yacht, we prepare a charter agreement based on the MYBA standard contract. A 50% deposit secures the booking, with the balance due 4–6 weeks before departure. We handle all paperwork, provisioning, and logistics so you can focus on your trip.
- How much does it cost to charter a yacht in Mallorca?
- Day charters in Mallorca start from approximately €3,500 for a motor yacht and can reach €15,000+ for larger luxury vessels. Weekly term charters range from €15,000 to €150,000+ depending on yacht size, season, and amenities. All quotes include crew, fuel for reasonable cruising, and standard insurance.
- What payment methods do you accept?
- We accept bank transfers (SEPA and international wire), major credit cards, and can accommodate cryptocurrency payments on request. All transactions are processed securely through our regulated payment provider. Invoices are issued in EUR, USD, or GBP.
- Is there a cancellation policy?
- Our cancellation policy follows MYBA standard terms. Cancellations more than 90 days before departure receive a partial refund minus administrative costs. Within 90 days, the deposit is typically non-refundable. We strongly recommend charter cancellation insurance, which we can arrange.
Charter Experience
- What is included in a yacht charter?
- A standard charter includes the yacht, professional captain and crew, fuel for reasonable cruising, water toys (paddleboards, snorkelling gear, jet ski on larger yachts), bed linens, towels, and comprehensive insurance. Food, beverages, port fees, and special requests such as a private chef or DJ are additional.
- Can I customize my itinerary?
- Absolutely. Your captain collaborates with you to craft a bespoke itinerary based on your preferences, weather, and local knowledge. We also offer 8 curated itineraries — from Mallorca day charters to 10-day Balearic circuits — as starting points you can adapt.
- What about dietary requirements and special requests?
- Our crews cater to all dietary needs — vegan, kosher, halal, gluten-free, and allergen-specific menus. Your onboard chef prepares meals tailored to your tastes. We also arrange celebrations, floral decorations, live music, and bespoke experiences on request.
- What water toys and activities are available?
- Depending on the yacht, activities include jet skiing, wakeboarding, water skiing, paddleboarding, kayaking, snorkelling, scuba diving (with certified instructor), seabobs, inflatable slides, and fishing equipment. Larger yachts carry tenders for shore excursions.
- Is the charter insured?
- Yes. All Bluebnc charters carry comprehensive insurance through Lloyd’s of London, including liability coverage and guest protection. We also offer optional charter cancellation insurance and personal travel insurance packages.
Day Charters
- What is a day charter?
- A day charter is a single-day yacht experience, typically running from 10:00 to 18:00 (8 hours). It is ideal for exploring Mallorca’s west coast, visiting Ibiza’s hidden coves, or crossing to Formentera — without an overnight commitment. Day charters are available from Palma, Port Adriano, and Ibiza Town.
- How many guests can join a day charter?
- Guest capacity depends on the yacht. Our day charter fleet accommodates between 6 and 12 guests. For larger groups, we can arrange multiple yachts sailing in convoy. All day charters include a professional captain and at least one crew member.
- Where do day charters depart from in Mallorca?
- Day charters depart from three locations: Marina Cuarentena in Palma (most popular), Port Adriano in Calvià, and Puerto de Andratx on the west coast. Departure point depends on the yacht and your preferred itinerary.
- Can I book a day charter for a corporate event?
- Yes. Day charters are popular for corporate entertaining, team-building, product launches, and client hospitality. We provide tailored packages including catering, branding, and multi-yacht flotillas for larger groups.
Destinations & Itineraries
- What destinations does Bluebnc Yachting cover?
- We operate across the western Mediterranean: Mallorca, Ibiza, Formentera, Menorca (Balearic Islands), the French Riviera, Sardinia, Corsica, the Amalfi Coast, and Greece. Our headquarters are in Mallorca, where we maintain the largest managed charter fleet on the island.
- What is the best time of year to charter in the Balearic Islands?
- The prime season runs from May to October. June and September offer the best balance of warm weather, calm seas, and fewer crowds. July and August are peak months with the liveliest atmosphere. Late April and October provide pleasant sailing with lower rates.
- Do you offer multi-destination itineraries?
- Yes. Our 7-day and 10-day term charters cover multiple islands and coastlines. Popular routes include the Mallorca Circumnavigation (7 days), Ibiza & Formentera Explorer (7 days), and the Grand Balearic Circuit (10 days) covering Mallorca, Cabrera, Ibiza, and Formentera.
- Can I charter a yacht from Mallorca to Ibiza?
- Absolutely. The crossing from Palma to Ibiza is approximately 80 nautical miles (6–8 hours depending on conditions). This is a popular route for weekly charters, allowing you to explore both islands. We recommend a minimum 5-day charter for a Mallorca–Ibiza itinerary.
Yacht Management & Sales
- Do you offer yacht management services?
- Yes. Bluebnc Yachting provides comprehensive yacht management including operational oversight, crew recruitment and management, maintenance scheduling, berth management, and charter revenue optimisation. We manage a fleet of over 20 motor yachts in Mallorca.
- Can I generate income from my yacht through charter?
- Absolutely. Our charter management programme maximises your yacht’s earning potential while maintaining it to the highest standards. We handle marketing, bookings, crew, maintenance, and guest services — you receive regular income reports and can block dates for personal use.
- Does Bluebnc handle yacht sales and brokerage?
- Yes. Our brokerage team assists with buying and selling motor yachts and luxury catamarans worldwide. We provide market valuations, global marketing, buyer introductions, survey coordination, and end-to-end transaction management.
- What makes Bluebnc different from other charter companies?
- Bluebnc Yachting is the only charter company in Mallorca that manages its own fleet of 20+ motor yachts. This means direct quality control, competitive pricing, and an unmatched level of service. We are Lloyd’s insured, MYBA contract subscribers, and Yachtfolio members.
Safety & Logistics
- Do I need a boating licence to charter a yacht?
- No. All Bluebnc charters come with a professional, licensed captain and crew. You are a guest, not the skipper. If you hold a valid licence and wish to take the helm on smaller vessels, this can be discussed with the captain.
- What happens in bad weather?
- Safety is our absolute priority. Your captain monitors weather forecasts continuously and will adjust the itinerary to ensure comfort and safety. In the rare event of severe conditions, we offer flexible rescheduling options. The Balearic Islands enjoy over 300 days of sunshine per year.
- Are children welcome on charter yachts?
- Absolutely. Many of our yachts are family-friendly with child safety equipment, shallow-water toys, and crew experienced in hosting families. We can arrange child-specific menus, entertainment, and age-appropriate water activities.
- How do I get to the yacht on departure day?
- We provide detailed embarkation instructions including marina location, berth number, and parking information. For VIP arrivals, we arrange private transfers from the airport, hotel, or villa directly to the yacht. Helicopter transfers to the yacht are also available.
- Can I bring pets on a yacht charter?
- Pets are welcome on select yachts. Please inform us at the time of booking so we can match you with a pet-friendly vessel and make appropriate arrangements for your furry companion.
