Month-by-Month Overview
The western Mediterranean charter season spans April to October, with each month offering a distinct character.
Ideal for yacht maintenance and refit. Limited charter availability. Some yachts relocate to the Caribbean.
The Palma International Boat Show opens the Mediterranean season. Pleasant weather (20–24°C) and fewer crowds; rates are often lower than in high summer.
Festival de Cannes on the French Riviera. Warm weather (23–27°C) and typically a wider choice of yachts than in high summer.
Monaco Grand Prix and The Superyacht Cup Palma. Warm seas (22–24°C) and long days — a good month for families before the main school holidays begin.
Full Mediterranean summer. Highest demand, warmest waters (25–27°C). Book 6–12 months ahead for best selection.
European holidays. Highest demand and rates of the year; plan well ahead for the widest choice of yachts.
Warm seas (25–26°C), fewer crowds, excellent weather. Many consider this the best month for Mediterranean chartering.
Late-season sailing and Ibiza closing parties. Still warm (22–25°C), with rates often lower than in high summer.
Season ends. Some yachts available for holiday charters in warmer pockets. Fleet repositions for winter.

Frequently Asked Questions
When is the best time to charter a yacht in the Mediterranean?+
The Mediterranean charter season runs from May to October, with peak season in July and August. For a good balance of weather, choice and value, we often suggest June or September. May and October can offer lower rates with still-pleasant conditions.
How far in advance should I book a summer charter?+
For peak season (July–August), we suggest starting 6–12 months ahead to secure your preferred yacht. For May, June, September and October, 3–6 months is usually enough. Last-minute charters are sometimes possible, but with a more limited choice.
Are charter rates different by season?+
Yes. Most yachts publish different rates for high and low season, and the difference varies by yacht and owner. Some owners also consider longer charters or early enquiries. Your written quote confirms the exact rate for your dates.
Can I charter during the off-season (November–April)?+
Winter options in the western Mediterranean are limited. Some yachts remain available for event-based charters, such as MIPIM in Cannes. Many yachts reposition to the Caribbean for the winter season.
